About the Possum Family Singers

With Celu as “Fluffy”, Steve and Laurie started out in summer of 2009 as the Silver Kittens (because we were old and cute) out of “Celu and Friends” playing weekly at Chester’s Bayview Cafe, adding Matt and Ann along the way. Each of us had Kitten names–Scruffy, Possum, Fritz and Muffy (and Gail–Dash!)

Steve, Laurie and Matt had been playing with the Cavepainters at the Starry Plough, Berkeley on Thursdays for about four years, when Steve was invited to take on… Show more the Saturday happy hour. In November of 2009 Celu split off with the “Friends,” and also began booking Chester’s four nights per week, of which we took one Thursday each month. Meanwhile, we needed another animal to name ourselves after, and the Possum Family was born.
