The Fire Within

In the late 19th century, Moroccan Jewish men were among the adventurers who came to Iquitos in the Amazonian rainforest following the great rubber boom. Marriage to indigenous women mixed Jewish traditions with Amazonian rituals. Following the “discovery” of this community by rabbis, a group of Iquitos Jews underwent conversion and later immigrated to Israel. Others have remained in Peru, hoping to help their community flourish and grow. In English/Spanish w/ English subtitles.
