If you aren’t White, Black or Hispanic in America, you are one of “The Others.” This hysterical group of "others" includes Arab, Indian, Muslim and Iranian comics. From Comedy Central's "Axis of Evil" TV special come Arab-American comedians Aron Kader (from "Comics Unleahed" and FX) and Dean Obeidallah (from ABC's "The View" and CNN's "Inside the Middle East"). Joining them are Indian-American comedian Vidur Kapur (2008 nominee "Brink of Fame Comic" by The LOGO Channel and Fox's "On the Lot") and Iranian-American comedian Tissa Hami (ABC's "The View" and PBS).
Vidur Kapur was selected as one of the top four Asian comics in North America to perform at the world famous "Just for Laughs" Comedy Festival in Montreal in July 2006. Vidur and his stand up comedy are the subject of a short film called "Laughing Out Loud: A Comic Journey" by director Shalini Kantayya, shown on Steven Spielberg's "On The Lot" on FOX television. He has co-starred with Margaret Cho on MTV LOGO's "Outlaugh Festival on Wisecrack".
Tissa Hami is one of the world's few female Muslim stand-up comics and performed for 10,000 people at First Night Boston 2005. She has been featured in the Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, Washington Post, and Chicago Tribune, as well as on BBC radio and Australian and European television.
